20 killed, 1,488 injured in 1,298 road crashes across Punjab

LAHORE: At least 20 people were killed and 1,488 others injured in 1,298 road traffic crashes reported across Punjab during the last 24 hours, according to official rescue data.

The figures showed that 644 of the injured were in serious condition and were shifted to different hospitals for treatment. Another 835 people who suffered minor injuries were provided medical assistance at the scene by Rescue Medical Teams.

According to the data, motorbikes were involved in the majority of the accidents, accounting for 76 per cent of the reported road crashes.

The breakdown of victims showed that 914 drivers, 62 underage drivers, 164 pedestrians and 430 passengers were among those affected in the incidents.

Lahore reports highest number of crashes

Lahore recorded the highest number of road traffic crashes in the province, with 228 incidents affecting 272 people. Faisalabad ranked second, where 91 crashes left 110 people affected.

Gujranwala was third on the list, with 89 road traffic crashes and 101 victims reported during the same period.

The details further showed that a total of 1,508 victims were affected in the road crashes, including 1,248 males and 260 females.

Province-wide toll in 24 hours

The latest figures reflect the scale of road safety incidents reported across Punjab in a single day, with fatalities and injuries recorded in large numbers in multiple districts.

Of the total injured, those with severe wounds were transported to hospitals, while a substantial number of people with less serious injuries were treated on site by rescue teams.

The official analysis also highlighted the heavy involvement of motorcyclists in road traffic crashes, alongside drivers, pedestrians and passengers listed among the victims.

The district-wise data placed Lahore at the top in terms of both the number of crashes and the number of people affected, followed by Faisalabad and Gujranwala.
