Police in Rawalpindi have registered a case and launched an investigation into the alleged sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl in Chaklala. The Rawalpindi CPO has ordered a report and directed police to arrest the suspect immediately.

RAWALPINDI: Police have registered a case and started an investigation into the alleged sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl in the Chaklala area, according to police.
Police said the girl had left her home after facing domestic violence in the aftermath of her parents’ separation and subsequent remarriages. They said an acquaintance took her to the residence of a lawyer.
According to the police account, the girl later shifted to another house, where she alleged that she was given ice and assaulted by a man identified as Abdul Rauf.
The victim told doctors that a dispute broke out between the accused and his wife after the incident, police said. In a distressed state, she then attempted suicide by consuming rat poison and was moved to hospital for treatment.
Police said the girl has sought legal action against the accused.
Police response
After taking notice of the incident, Rawalpindi City Police Officer directed the SP Potohar to submit a report and ensure the immediate arrest of the suspect, according to police.
Police officials said efforts were under way to apprehend the accused and that the investigation had been launched after the case was registered.
The case has drawn official attention in Rawalpindi, with the police saying action is being pursued in line with the directions issued by the city police chief.
No further details were provided by police in the report regarding the timing of the alleged assault, the identity of the acquaintance, or the lawyer whose residence the girl was first taken to.
The police version of events, as shared in the report, states that the minor’s circumstances before the alleged assault were linked to family disruption and domestic violence. Investigators are now examining the allegations surrounding her movement between residences, the claim that she was drugged with ice, and the accusation of assault against Abdul Rauf.
The victim’s statement to doctors, as cited by police, also forms part of the sequence of events being looked into by investigators, including the reported dispute between the accused and his wife and the girl’s subsequent suicide attempt through rat poison consumption.
Authorities have said the suspect’s arrest is being pursued on an urgent basis following the notice taken by the Rawalpindi CPO.
