Rawalpindi: Police have registered a case and started raids to arrest a suspect after a bus hostess alleged that she was sexually assaulted in the Pirwadhai area of Rawalpindi.
According to police, the complainant, identified as R.S., said in her statement that she is a resident of Layyah district and works as a bus hostess on buses operated by different companies.
She told police that she had gone to her village in Layyah on leave and was returning to Rawalpindi by bus the previous night. In her account, she said a road closure forced her to get off at Tarnol.
The complainant stated that after disembarking, she contacted a man named Ashraf. She said he brought her to Pirwadhai in his vehicle and dropped her at Gilani Hotel before leaving.
Police said the woman reported that, because she was tired, she rented a room on the first floor of the hotel to rest. She alleged that a short while later, someone knocked on the door. When she opened it, a suspect named in the first information report allegedly entered the room by force.
In her complaint, she said the suspect covered her mouth to stop her from raising an alarm and made her inhale something that caused her to lose consciousness.
She further alleged that while she was unconscious, the suspect sexually assaulted her and then fled the room, leaving her there. The complainant also told police that the accused caused injuries to different parts of her body with his nails.
Police have registered the case and begun an investigation into the incident. Raids are under way to apprehend the suspect, according to police.
