PPP leader hails Pakistan’s rising global diplomatic stature, saying diplomatic achievements usher in a new era of global branding and peace
Says Pakistan ensured space for trust, face-saving for both sides, acknowledging support from Egypt, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, China
ISLAMABAD: Senator Sherry Rehman on Saturday hailed Pakistan’s rising diplomatic stature, underscoring its pivotal role in rebuilding trust and bringing adversaries to the negotiating table, while asserting that India now struggled to reconcile with Pakistan’s growing emphasis on peace and global engagement.
Speaking to local media, the senior leader of the Pakistan People’s Party described the development as a significant diplomatic success, noting that Pakistan had helped move both countries from a war-like situation to dialogue, easing tensions that had gripped the wider region.
She observed that while both sides sought to safeguard their core interests and maintain domestic face-saving, Pakistan played a crucial bridging role by creating space for meaningful engagement and discussion.
Rehman stressed that Pakistan would continue to ensure that concerns of both sides are heard, fostering trust and enabling an environment conducive to constructive and sustained dialogue.
While acknowledging the support of countries including Egypt, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and China, she maintained that Pakistan’s leadership remained central to bringing the opposing sides together.
She noted that Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach had successfully created a platform where both nations could engage without compromising their fundamental positions, terming the ongoing peace talks a major breakthrough.
Highlighting the significance of the development, Rehman said the presence of both countries at the same negotiating table was a clear testament to Pakistan’s growing influence in global diplomacy.
Taking a critical view of India, she remarked that New Delhi — which once labeled Pakistan a “terrorist hub” — was now confronting the fallout of its own diplomatic approach and struggling to accept Pakistan’s transformation into a proactive peace-builder.
She added that the international community was increasingly recognizing Pakistan’s positive diplomatic shift, reinforcing its credibility as a responsible actor on the global stage.
Concluding her remarks, Rehman expressed confidence that, with Pakistan’s continued support, both sides would sustain trust and advance dialogue, ensuring that the peace process moves forward in a smooth and constructive manner.
