Pakistan, Turkiye to sign MoU on judicial cooperation
The Supreme Court will host a delegation from Turkiye’s Constitutional Court from April 6 to 9, during which both sides will sign an MoU on judicial cooperation. The agreement is expected to cover judicial exchange, training, technology and institutional collaboration.

Islamabad: The Supreme Court of Pakistan will host a senior delegation from Turkiye’s Constitutional Court from April 6 to 9, during which the two sides are set to sign a memorandum of understanding on judicial cooperation, according to a press release issued by the apex court.
The statement said the Turkish delegation will be headed by Kadir Özkaya, president of the Constitutional Court of Turkiye, and will include judges and other senior officials.
A central event of the visit will be the signing of the MoU at the Supreme Court of Pakistan on April 6. The press release said the ceremony will be witnessed by judges of the Supreme Court and the Federal Constitutional Court, the chief justices of the high courts, Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar and other officials.
According to the Supreme Court, the agreement is expected to create an organised and forward-looking framework for cooperation in areas including judicial exchange, capacity building and the sharing of best practices in adjudication.
The initiative reflects the shared commitment of Pakistan and Turkiye to strengthening constitutional governance, upholding the rule of law, and reinforcing judicial independence, as well as to fostering closer institutional linkages between their superior courts
The press release said professional development within the judiciary, especially at the district level, would be a major component of the proposed cooperation. It said this would be pursued through joint training programmes, academic exchanges and exposure to comparative judicial practices.
The statement also said the collaboration is expected to help support the use of modern technologies in judicial processes with the aim of improving efficiency, transparency and access to justice.

In addition, the agreement envisages the formation of a joint working group to maintain continued engagement and ensure implementation of the agreed areas of cooperation, the handout said.
Meetings and visits planned
During their stay, members of the Turkish delegation are expected to hold high-level institutional meetings and engage with key stakeholders in the justice sector. The discussions, according to the statement, will focus on current challenges in adjudication, judicial administration and reform-oriented initiatives.

The handout added that the delegation will also visit Taxila and the Walled City of Lahore.
The Supreme Court said the visit is part of its broader efforts to promote a justice system that is modern, efficient and responsive, while remaining aligned with international best practices and committed to enhancing public trust and access to justice.
