LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Saturday expressed gratitude over the successful achievement of compassion-driven public service targets during the holy month of Ramazan, stating that the “Nigahban Ramazan Package 2026” set a historic benchmark in welfare delivery across the province.

In a post on her official X account, the chief minister thanked Almighty Allah for enabling the fulfillment of her commitment to ensure that no one was left alone during moments of joy.

Highlighting key achievements, she said that, for the first time, financial assistance was delivered directly to beneficiaries at their doorsteps with dignity and respect. Under the package, aid reached approximately 4.5 million families, benefiting nearly 25 million individuals across Punjab.

Through the “Maryam Ki Sunain” initiative, Rs10,000 was distributed to 45,000 families, while around 4 million people availed Iftar at 422 Nigahban Dastarkhwans established across the province.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif further noted that, for the first time, a province-wide price control campaign during Ramazan yielded positive results, ensuring unprecedented stability in the prices of essential commodities.

She added that more than 550,000 citizens visited 75 well-organized Ramazan bazaars daily for their shopping needs.

The chief minister also highlighted that under the Minority Card initiative, over 157,000 Christian families were provided Rs10,000 each during the occasion of Lent, reflecting the government’s commitment to inclusivity and welfare for all communities.

CM expresses grief over Sherry Rehman’s daughter’s demise

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif expressed deep sorrow and grief over the passing of the daughter of senior Pakistan Peoples Party leader and Senator Sherry Rehman.

She extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and offered prayers for the departed soul, acknowledging that the loss of a child is an unbearable pain for any parent and cannot truly be eased.

The chief minister also expressed solidarity with Sherry Rehman and her family during this moment of profound grief.

CM condoles demise of Punjab Assembly secretary general’s mother

In a separate message, Maryam Nawaz Sharif expressed deep sorrow over the demise of the mother of Secretary General Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Aamir Habib.

She extended her heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for strength and patience for them to bear this irreparable loss.

CM takes notice of minor girl’s death in stray dog attack

The chief minister also expressed grief over the tragic death of a young girl in Township after she was bitten by a stray dog.

Extending condolences to the bereaved family, she took immediate notice of the incident and sought a prompt report from the relevant authorities to ensure accountability and preventive measures.

CM’s message on Nowruz

In her message on the occasion of Nowruz, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif extended warm greetings, describing the festival as a symbol of the arrival of spring and a source of hope and joy.

She noted that Nowruz reflects shared traditions, diverse cultures, and common values celebrated across communities.

The chief minister said such festivals play a vital role in strengthening bonds among families and nations, while promoting harmony and mutual understanding.

She added that Nowruz symbolizes renewal, peace, and the universal aspiration for happiness and prosperity, expressing hope that the occasion brings positive change and well-being for all.
