Chief Minister’s free doorstep delivery project sets new record of public service

• Scheme included fresh produce and staple groceries, delivered over 312,000 orders through 46 govt convenience markets
• Essential items sold up to 7% below official DC-notified rates, helping citizens save save Rs110m via free delivery app

LAHORE: Punjab’s first-ever government-led project for home delivery of quality and affordable essential goods is progressing successfully under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, marking a major step forward in citizen-focused public service delivery.

Under the free home delivery initiative, more than 312,000 orders have so far been delivered to households through 46 convenience markets established in 35 cities across the province.

Launched by the Punjab Convenience Market Authority, the programme is providing 13 essential food items at prices up to seven percent lower than the rates officially notified by deputy commissioners, offering tangible financial relief to consumers.

Citizens can place orders through a dedicated free home delivery application available on Google Play Store and Apple Store, which ensures zero delivery charges while enabling savings of up to seven percent on essential purchases.

The service includes the delivery of fresh produce such as potatoes, onions, tomatoes, pumpkins, garlic, apples, bananas, dates, lemons, guavas and watermelons, along with key grocery staples including lentils, chickpeas, gram flour, wheat flour and sugar.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said the initiative had already helped citizens collectively save Rs110 million, describing the doorstep provision of quality goods at reduced prices as an unprecedented public welfare measure.

She reiterated that the burden of inflation would not be allowed to fall on the public and announced that the scope of the project would be gradually expanded to additional cities across Punjab.

CM EXPRESSES GRIEF OVER LOSS OF LIVES

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed profound sorrow over the loss of precious human lives after a truck plunged into a canal near Sargodha.

She extended heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the bereaved families, prayed for the departed souls and sought strength and patience for the affected families during this difficult time. The chief minister termed the incident tragic and deeply regrettable.

She has directed the Sargodha commissioner to submit a detailed report to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident.

CM COMMENDS SECURITY FORCES FOR FOILING TERRORIST ATTACK

Furthermore, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz paid tribute to the security forces for successfully foiling a terrorist attack in Kharan.

She saluted the brave personnel for their courage, professionalism and swift action, commending their timely response in safeguarding lives and maintaining peace.

The chief minister lauded the vigilance and dedication of the security forces, emphasizing that their unwavering commitment remains vital for ensuring the country’s security and stability.
