 LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Tuesday reaffirmed her government's commitment to public service, saying the upgradation of Rural Health Centres (RHCs) was ensuring the delivery of quality healthcare services at people's doorsteps, while declaring that her administration had drawn its guiding principles of governance and public welfare from Quaid Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.

"We have learnt the lesson of public service from Quaid Muhammad Nawaz Sharif," the chief minister said while talking to Members of the Punjab Assembly (MPAs) Mian Shahid Hussain Khan and Muhammad Aoun Jahangir, who called on her to discuss public issues, the law and order situation, and ongoing development projects across the province, according to a statement issued by the Chief Minister's Office (CMO).

The meeting also featured a detailed discussion on constituency-related matters and the prevailing political situation.

The legislators expressed grief over the tragic Kahna incident in which children lost their lives and offered prayers for the departed souls.

The MPAs congratulated the chief minister on presenting Punjab's third surplus budget and appreciated the launch of the "Apna Khet, Apna Rozgar" initiative. They also lauded the provincial government's decision to extend the electric bus service to tehsil-level cities.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz directed the legislators to ensure comprehensive preparations in their respective districts for Eid Miladun Nabi (PBUH). She also thanked them for expressing confidence in her leadership and the government's public welfare agenda.

Highlighting progress on key development initiatives, the chief minister said nearly 125,000 houses under the "Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar" programme were progressing rapidly towards completion across Punjab.

The legislators commended the provincial government's public welfare vision, improvements in road infrastructure and beautification projects across the province.

They also praised the arrangements made during Muharram, saying that effective security measures, cleanliness campaigns and the provision of government-sponsored Sabeels had earned widespread public appreciation.

They further appreciated the chief minister's innovative initiatives and projects aimed at the welfare, protection and empowerment of women and children.

 

CM pays tribute to Havaldar Lalak Jan Shaheed on martyrdom anniversary

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday paid glowing tribute to Nishan-i-Haider recipient Havaldar Lalak Jan Shaheed, honouring his unparalleled courage and everlasting sacrifice in the defence of the country.

In a message issued on the occasion of his martyrdom anniversary, the chief minister said the decorated soldier had thwarted the enemy's nefarious designs despite sustaining severe injuries during battle.

She said Havaldar Lalak Jan Shaheed remained a timeless symbol of courage, steadfastness and valour, adding that the national hero would forever live in the hearts of the people.

The chief minister said the martyrs who laid down their lives for the motherland were the nation's pride, honour and true defenders.

She added that the sacrifices rendered by the brave soldiers who embraced martyrdom in defence of the country could never be repaid.

 

CM condemns Ziarat terrorist attack

In a related development, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday strongly condemned the terrorist attack in the Mangi Phase III area of Quetta.

The chief minister paid rich tribute to the police personnel who embraced martyrdom while successfully foiling the terrorist attack, describing their sacrifice as exemplary, unforgettable and a source of pride for the entire nation.

She extended her heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the bereaved families and prayed for the early recovery of those injured in the attack.

"The fight against terrorism is a battle for our survival. There will be no compromise or weakening in our unwavering resolve to eradicate this menace," the chief minister said.

She added that the entire nation saluted the supreme sacrifices rendered by the martyred police personnel in the line of duty, saying their courage and dedication would continue to inspire future generations.
