On the eighth anniversary of the Raiwind suicide attack, Punjab Police pays tribute to seven martyrs who sacrificed their lives. Their bravery continues to inspire the force.

 LAHORE: The Punjab Police paid glowing tributes to seven police martyrs of the Lahore Raiwind suicide bombing on the eighth anniversary of their martyrdom, with Punjab Inspector General of Police Abdul Kareem and the Capital City Police Office stating that the brave sons who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty remain the pride of the nation and that their eternal sacrifices will always be remembered.

The IG Police said the Punjab Police salutes the martyrs and their families, emphasising that the sacrifices rendered by police martyrs serve as a guiding light for the entire police force.

He reaffirmed that the welfare and well-being of the families of martyrs remain among the top priorities of the Punjab Police.

In a statement, the Punjab Police spokesperson said that on this day in 2018, seven officers and personnel of the Punjab Police embraced martyrdom while performing their duties in a suicide attack in Raiwind, Lahore.

Among the martyrs were two Sub-Inspectors, two Head Constables and three Constables.

Sub-Inspector Muhammad Aslam, Sub-Inspector Manzoor Ahmad and Constable Muhammad Saeed embraced martyrdom in the suicide blast at the Raiwind Ijtema on March 14, 2018. Constable Zafar Iqbal was martyred on the same day during an exchange of fire while attempting to arrest proclaimed offenders.

 ‘Lahore Police would never forget sacrifices of its martyrs’

Meanwhile, Capital City Police Officer Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana said the police force has played a frontline role in the war against terrorism, adding that the nation today lives in a peaceful environment owing to the immense sacrifices rendered by the martyrs.

In a message issued on the occasion of the eighth anniversary of the martyrs of the suicide blast at the Raiwind Ijtema, CCPO Kamyana paid tribute to the courage of the martyrs and the steadfastness of their families. He said the welfare and well-being of the families of martyrs would always remain a top priority and that the Lahore Police would never forget the sacrifices rendered by its brave personnel.

On the occasion, visits were made to the graves of the martyrs, where a smartly turned-out police contingent presented a salute, laid floral wreaths and offered Fateha.
