 LAHORE: Under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, “Justice at Your Doorstep,” the Punjab Police has accelerated measures to ensure immediate protection of crime scenes and effective investigations.

On the directions of Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Abdul Kareem, Crime Scene Protection Kits have been deployed in the vehicles of 747 police stations across the province, including Lahore.

A Punjab Police spokesperson said that the special kits, consisting of crime scene cones, cordon tape, and markers, have been placed in every police station vehicle so that the scene of a crime can be immediately secured, and evidence preserved from loss or contamination.

IG Punjab Abdul Kareem said that crime scene protection is a fundamental component of investigation, adding that proper and timely preservation of crime scenes ensures that evidence remains intact, which in turn improves the overall standard of investigations.

Additional IG Investigation Punjab, Shahzada Sultan, stated that police officers are being provided specialized training as first responders, with 500 master trainers already prepared for this purpose. He added that, in coordination with the Punjab Forensic Science Authority, professional training of police personnel from Constable to Inspector rank is ongoing in crime scene management.

The Additional IG further emphasized that training is aligned with modern forensic science requirements, ensuring that the investigation process becomes more effective, transparent, and in line with international standards.

IGP Continues Meetings with Police Personnel and Families

Meanwhile, IGP Punjab Abdul Kareem met with police employees and their families at the Central Police Office. The IGP listened to their issues and issued instructions to the concerned officers for immediate relief and resolution.

According to details, at the request of Lady Head Constable Uzma Khanum, IGP directed the Additional IG Welfare and Finance to provide financial assistance. Regarding the transfer request of Stenographer Azhar Shafiq, instructions were issued to the Additional IG Punjab to consider the matter.

Similarly, on the request of retired Sub-Inspector Malik Ashraf, the SSP Operations Lahore was directed to take necessary action.

While issuing orders on other applications related to discipline, administration, promotion, and welfare, IGP Abdul Kareem stressed that the welfare and well-being of Punjab Police personnel and their families is his top priority, and timely, effective resolution of their issues will be ensured.
