Sadia Imam calls out shaky cinematography in Kafeel
Sadia Imam critiques the shaky cinematography in Kafeel during her show Kya Drama Hai, sparking a debate on technical standards in television dramas.

Sadia Imam is a renowned Pakistani television actress, host, and media personality celebrated for her memorable performances in classic dramas. Over the years, she has appeared in popular serials such as Hum Se Juda Na Hona, Colony 52, Naseeb, Singhar, Uljhan, Saath Sur Rishton Kay, and Mera Naseeb. In addition to acting, she has hosted shows including Mast Mornings with Sadia Imam and Samaa Kay Mehman. She currently appears as a co-host and drama critic on Kya Drama Hai.
In a recent episode of Kya Drama Hai, Sadia Imam openly criticised the camera work in the drama serial Kafeel, directed by Meesam Naqvi.
Expressing her concerns, she revealed that she had already discussed the issue with Meesam personally and decided to address it publicly as well. According to her, the camera work in Kafeel is “disastrous.” She explained that while camera movement can sometimes be justified to capture shifting perspectives between characters, unnecessary shaking in master shots is distracting and technically flawed.
Sadia questioned why the director’s camera appeared unstable during scenes that required steady framing. She remarked that when viewers are watching a drama, they are seeing it from the director’s point of view, which should remain controlled and composed. She further criticised continuous camera movement even when characters were stationary in the frame, urging greater attention to technical details.
Interestingly, many viewers of Kafeel have echoed her criticism. Social media users agreed that the shaky camerawork has been distracting, with some commenting that watching certain scenes feels like experiencing an earthquake on screen. The debate has since sparked wider discussion about technical standards and production quality in television dramas.
