Hania Aamir applauds drama Kafeel for sensitive portrayal of abuse

Actor Hania Aamir has praised the ARY Digital drama serial Kafeel for its handling of domestic abuse and for presenting what she described as responsible storytelling on Pakistani television.

Kafeel is a prime-time drama produced by Big Bang Entertainment, written by Umera Ahmed and directed by Meesam Naqvi. The project is produced by Fahad Mustafa and Dr Ali Kazmi and features a cast that includes Emmad Irfani, Sanam Saeed, Munazza Arif, Kashif Mehmood and Javed Rizvi.

The drama centres on the troubled household of Zeba and Jami, where financial, emotional and physical abuse shapes the lives of family members. Recent episodes have sparked discussion online, particularly after a scene in which Subuk intervenes to protect his sister from their father.

The scene circulated widely on social media, drawing attention to Aashir Wajahat’s performance as Subuk and to the show’s depiction of abuse within family structures. Viewers also highlighted the broader social commentary embedded in the storyline.

Hania Aamir reshared the clip on Instagram, commending the drama team for addressing physical and emotional abuse with care and responsibility. She also praised the performances of Emmad Irfani and Aashir Wajahat, noting that the drama presented a positive model of male support within families rather than control or silence.

Her remarks added to growing appreciation for Kafeel, which continues to generate debate for its themes, performances and approach to difficult social issues on prime-time television.
