DPM condemns Israel’s expansion of control in West Bank at UN briefing

NEW YORK: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Tuesday condemned Israel’s recent moves to expand its control over the West Bank, calling on the occupying power to halt all illegal settlement activities and violations of the ceasefire.
Speaking at a high-level United Nations Security Council briefing on Palestine, Ishaq Dar also expressed hope that the Board of Peace, operating under the framework of UN Security Council resolution 2803, would produce tangible outcomes, including a lasting ceasefire, scaled-up humanitarian assistance, and reconstruction efforts in Gaza.
The Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the urgent need for a credible, time-bound political process to secure the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination.
He stressed that this should lead to an independent, sovereign, and contiguous State of Palestine based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, in line with international law and UN resolutions.
