National Assembly raises CSS age limit to 35, increases exam attempts to five from 2026
February 10, 2026
The National Assembly on Friday approved a resolution to raise the maximum age for Central Superior Services (CSS) exam candidates from 30 to 35 years, effective from 2026. The resolution, moved by PML-N MNA Syeda Nosheen Iftikhar, also allows aspirants up to five attempts at the CSS exam, one more than the current limit.
The House backed the proposal without objection, urging the government to implement the changes promptly to enable candidates to plan accordingly. The CSS exam serves as a key pathway to Pakistan’s top federal administrative posts, traditionally attracting recent graduates and young professionals.
The increase in age limit and allowed attempts aims to broaden opportunities for a larger pool of applicants preparing for careers in administration, foreign affairs, customs, and other civil services. Previously, candidates above 30 years were ineligible to compete for the exam.
