ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday emphasized the importance of regular and close coordination between Pakistan and Azerbaijan to achieve the shared goal of regional peace and security.

He reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to further strengthen bilateral relations with the brotherly nation across all areas of mutual interest.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif made these remarks during a meeting with Khalaf Khalafov, Representative of the President of Azerbaijan on Special Assignments, in Islamabad.

Highlighting the growing economic partnership, the Prime Minister noted that both sides are close to finalizing a landmark agreement for a two-billion-dollar investment by Azerbaijan in Pakistan. He also reiterated his invitation to President Ilham Aliyev to undertake an official visit to Pakistan at the earliest opportunity.

Premier Shehbaz conveyed his warm greetings to President Ilham Aliyev and lauded his wise leadership, which has enhanced Azerbaijan’s global standing.
In response, the Azerbaijani representative extended President Aliyev’s warm greetings to the Prime Minister and praised his vision and leadership, noting Pakistan’s significant achievements in the economic, security, and diplomatic spheres under his stewardship.
He also expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s steadfast support during the second Karabakh war and reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s longstanding position on Jammu and Kashmir.
As part of the meeting, the Azerbaijani representative handed over a letter from President Aliyev acknowledging Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s message of appreciation for Azerbaijan’s support in establishing the Asaan Khidmat Markaz in Islamabad, inaugurated earlier this month.
