KARACHI: Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar on Sunday said the Sindh government’s “effective and result oriented Surrender Policy” was producing positive outcomes, claiming that 26 notorious and wanted dacoits in Kashmore district and 12 in Sukkur had laid down their arms before police and law enforcement agencies.
In a statement, the minister said the surrender of 26 suspects in Kashmore and 12 a day earlier in Sukkur showed that criminal elements were under severe pressure due to the ongoing mega operation in the katcha areas, and that the writ of the state was being further strengthened.
He said the joint operation by police, Sindh Rangers and other law enforcement agencies would continue with full force until the complete restoration of law and order and elimination of crime. With the passage of time, he added, the operation would become faster, more effective and more decisive.
Issuing what he described as a clear message to criminal elements, Lanjar urged dacoits to surrender and lay down their arms instead of coming within the ambit of the operation, saying the government had shown a path to peace and those who complied would be welcomed.
He said the tri junction border belt and katcha areas remained the special focus of the operation and that the elimination of dacoits, their hideouts and facilitators was inevitable. He added that the government would continue the action with firm resolve and clear objectives until the last dacoit was eliminated.
