Sindh orders withdrawal of unauthorised security and protocol
Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar has ordered the withdrawal of unauthorised and unnecessary security across the province. The directive came during a Provincial Threat Assessment Committee meeting reviewing law and order and security arrangements.

KARACHI: Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar has directed authorities to remove unauthorised and unnecessary security arrangements across the province after a review of the overall law and order situation.
The directive was issued during an important meeting of the Provincial Threat Assessment Committee, which was held to examine the security situation in Sindh. Lanjar chaired the session, where participants carried out a detailed review of the prevailing security environment.
According to the details shared from the meeting, the assessment covered security arrangements for sensitive installations, VIPs, government officials, religious scholars and other individuals who have been provided security.
During the meeting, the home minister said security would not be provided on the basis of personal requests or recommendations. He said such arrangements would be granted strictly on the basis of verified threat assessments.
Lanjar ordered the immediate withdrawal of unauthorised and unnecessary security throughout Sindh. He also instructed that excess police vehicles and personnel currently assigned beyond requirement should be sent back to their primary duties.
The meeting focused on ensuring that police and security resources are used in line with actual security needs identified through formal assessment, rather than through informal influence or recommendation.
The home minister further directed the relevant authorities to prepare a comprehensive report on the removal of unnecessary security protocols and on the redeployment of surplus personnel.
He said the purpose of the exercise was to ensure that available resources are utilised effectively for public safety and for maintaining law and order in the province.
The meeting formed part of a broader review of Sindh’s security arrangements, with officials examining how personnel and vehicles are currently deployed and whether those deployments match verified threat levels.
Officials were asked to move quickly on the instructions and document the steps taken regarding the withdrawal of excess protocol and the reassignment of police resources.
