Prof. Cheng highlights inclusive growth, multilateral diplomacy in Pakistan’s stability plan

BEIJING: Prof. Cheng Xizhong, a senior fellow at the Charhar Institute, said on Wednesday that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s address at the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers Conference outlines an actionable model for Pakistan’s stability by linking economic reforms with peacebuilding at both domestic and regional levels.

Prof. Cheng noted that inclusive growth, SME expansion, and youth and women empowerment are essential tools to address unemployment, social unrest, and institutional weaknesses.

He added that fiscal and climate resilience reforms demonstrate a commitment to sustainable development beyond short-term fixes.

Prof. Cheng also emphasized the importance of dialogue over conflict, pointing to Sharif’s approach to regional diplomacy, engagement with international partners, and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor as examples of strategic multilateral cooperation.

He concluded that the prime minister’s speech provides a coherent and pragmatic framework to strengthen Pakistan’s stability and security.
