Dubai chocolate recall linked to bacterial infection

DUBAI: A popular chocolate brand in Dubai has been recalled after health authorities confirmed a potential Salmonella contamination. The recall pertains to the Dubai Pistachio & Knafeh Milk Chocolate, which is linked to an ongoing investigation into a foodborne illness outbreak. Consumers are strongly urged to avoid the affected products immediately.

Health experts recommend that anyone who experiences symptoms such as fever, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, stomach cramps, or headaches after consuming the chocolate should seek medical attention right away. Buyers are also advised to check their homes for the recalled products and either return them to stores or dispose of them safely.

Salmonella contamination can cause serious illness, and it may not always present any noticeable changes in the product’s appearance or smell. Vulnerable groups, including young children, pregnant women, older adults, and those with weakened immune systems, are at a higher risk of severe complications. In rare cases, long-term complications like arthritis may develop.

The affected Pistachio & Knafeh Milk Chocolate became popular for its combination of creamy milk chocolate with pistachios and knafeh, a traditional Middle Eastern dessert. It is widely available in grocery stores, particularly in the sweets and international foods sections.
