KARACHI: The final medico-legal report into the mysterious death of model and actress Humaira Asghar has revealed concerning new details, including blood traces found on her clothes. The report indicated that bloodstains were present on her T-shirt and trousers, though the blood samples did not contain sufficient human DNA, preventing any conclusive identification or determination of the source.
More disturbingly, the report confirmed that only skeletal remains were recovered, with no soft tissue or major organs found. Despite the intact bones, the cause of death remains undetermined due to the absence of critical bodily organs.
Police sources highlighted a major challenge in the investigation: the lack of a national blood and DNA databank. Officials noted that such forensic resources could have provided a breakthrough in the case. Furthermore, no traces of poisons or intoxicants were found in the remains, which adds to the growing mystery surrounding her death.
Humaira Asghar’s body was discovered in her apartment after months of being missing. The discovery occurred during an eviction procedure prompted by unpaid rent. The apartment door was locked from the inside, requiring authorities to break it open, revealing the body in an advanced state of decomposition.
The 42-year-old actress, who had lived in the apartment in Karachi’s DHA Phase VI since 2018, had reportedly stopped paying rent in early 2024.
