HYDERABAD: A line superintendent of Sukkur Electric Supply Company (SEPCO), Faheem Samejo, was stabbed to death in Sukkur district on Saturday. Samejo was in the process of recovering unpaid electricity bills at Mehran Markaz when he was attacked by a shopkeeper, identified as Hasnain Qureshi, after a heated argument.
Following the attack, Samejo’s last video showed blood gushing from his abdomen as he struggled to move before collapsing. He was rushed to Civil Hospital but succumbed to his injuries. The killing led to a strong protest by SEPCO officers and staff, who suspended power supply to the area and threatened to halt electricity across Sukkur if the killer was not arrested.
According to SEPCO, Samejo had asked Qureshi to pay his utility bill, which led to the altercation. Qureshi reportedly hurled abuses before attacking Samejo with a sharp object, believed to be a pair of scissors. The police have detained a worker from Qureshi’s shop, and while an investigation is underway, an FIR had not been filed by the evening.
After the incident, Qureshi fled the area, and despite police efforts, no arrests were made. The tragic incident has sparked outrage and calls for justice.
