KHANEWAL: Saddar police registered cases against 12 persons for allegedly attacking Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) team on Saturday.
Police said that a MEPCO team led by SDO Mehr Aslam raided Chak No 44/10-R to recover pending dues amounting to Rs 2.5 million from a tubewell owner namely Allah Dittah Nasim.
The team found out that he was also involved in power pilferage directly from MEPCO transmission lines for his tubewell.
The team tried to arrest him with the help of police but the accused along with 11 other accomplices resisted the arrest. After the altercation, police managed to arrest two outlaws, while others managed to escape.
The police registered cases against 12 outlaws under section 149,148, 186 and 462L.
