ISLAMABAD: The federal government has announced a four-day public holiday for Eid ul Adha, beginning on June 6 and lasting through June 9, 2025.
The decision received approval from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, with a formal notification expected soon from the cabinet division.
Prime Minister Sharif confirmed that during the holidays, all government and private offices, educational institutions, and banks across Pakistan will remain closed.
The announcement follows the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee’s moon sighting on May 27. Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad stated that Eid ul Adha’s first day will be observed nationwide on June 7.
Eid ul Adha commemorates the conclusion of the Hajj pilgrimage, one of Islam’s five pillars, which is obligatory for Muslims who can afford it.
