Govt committed to making Pakistan Railways passenger-friendly: Abbasi

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi on Sunday reaffirmed the government’s resolve to transform Pakistan Railways into a modern, reliable and passenger-friendly mode of transport.

During a surprise visit to the Margalla Railway Station, the minister assessed available facilities and directly engaged with both passengers and staff to get feedback on service quality. “Efforts are underway to make the railway a reliable and preferred mode of travel,” Abbasi said.

He conducted a detailed inspection of cleanliness arrangements at the station and expressed satisfaction over the staff’s efforts. He directed authorities to maintain high standards of hygiene and ensure consistent sanitation practices across the premises.

Inspecting the train stationed at the platform, Abbasi reviewed the onboard facilities in each coach and personally interacted with passengers to hear their complaints and suggestions regarding railway services.

The minister also held discussions with railway personnel about operational challenges and the quality of service delivery. He reviewed progress on ongoing development projects aimed at upgrading Margalla Station’s infrastructure.

Announcing future plans, Abbasi said the government intends to introduce recreational facilities and is considering setting up specially designed public restaurants as part of enhancing the station’s amenities.
