LAHORE: Ajoka Theatre announced the rescheduled performances of its critically acclaimed bilingual play “Lawrence in Lahore”, now set to take place on 18 May and 19 May at Alhamra Hall 2, Mall Road, Lahore.
Originally scheduled for earlier this month, the shows were briefly postponed due to security concerns. With conditions now stable, Ajoka is ready to return to the stage with one of its most powerful and innovative productions.
Co-written by Shahid Nadeem and Fawzia Afzal Khan, Lawrence in Lahore uncovers a little-known chapter in the life of British spy T.E. Lawrence—better known as Lawrence of Arabia. Set in post-WWI Lahore, the play explores themes of espionage, resistance, and colonial politics, brought vividly to life through live music, dance, archival visuals, and a dynamic cast.
The story unfolds across historic Lahore locations such as the Nedous Hotel and Arab Hotel, offering audiences a unique window into the colonial-era city and the undercurrents of freedom movements beginning to stir. Widely praised for its strong performances and relevant narrative, Lawrence in Lahore continues Ajoka’s legacy of socially conscious and thought-provoking theatre.
These performances also mark a significant moment for Ajoka as the group celebrates 41 years of bold, progressive theatre.
