Afghan consul general rejects KP CM’s direct negotiation proposal

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur’s proposal to negotiate directly with Afghanistan was rejected by the Afghan consul general on Friday.

In an interview with a private TV channel, Afghan Consul General Muhibullah Shakir stated that negotiations between Pakistan and Afghanistan fall outside the authority of the provincial government, emphasizing that such discussions are the responsibility and mandate of the federal governments.

“Pakistan and Afghanistan are two important neighboring countries with a 2,700-kilometer-long border. Afghanistan has just emerged from conflict, and we are ready to assist Pakistan in every possible way to establish peace in the region,” he reiterated.

He further asserted that countries can only prosper when their people and governments are aligned.
