Resilience in ruins

In April 2024, Pakistan experienced severe floods due to abnormal rainfall. The disaster resulted in the death of over 50 people, with many more injured, and thousands of homes destroyed. Parts of the provinces of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan and Punjab were badly affected, with significant damage to infrastructure and agriculture. The focus now is on helping and healing those affected. There is an urgent need to strengthen disaster preparedness and climate change strategies. By doing so, Pakistan will be better equipped to deal with such issues in the future and become stronger. This latest flood serves as a reminder of the increasing frequency of extreme weather events and emphasises the crucial role of international cooperation in combating the consequences of climate change.
