MoST proposes three names for appointment as DG PSQCA

ISLAMABAD: Ministry of Science and Technology, has sent a summary to federal cabinet for appointment of Director General of Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) as the ministry shortlists three names for the post after interview. The proposal involves elevating the Director General’s position to MP-I Scale, in alignment with the MP Scale Policy-2020. 

Operating autonomously under the Ministry’s jurisdiction, the PSQCA, established by the PSQCA Act, 1996, had advertised the Director General vacancy in November 2023, attracting a pool of thirty-seven applicants. 

As per the summary after scrutiny by the Selection Committee, three candidates emerged as front-runners based on their leadership, financial prowess, administrative acumen, communication skills, and innovative strategies to augment organizational growth: The candidates included Mr. Muhammad Khalid Siddiq, Mr. Akhtar Ahmad Bughio and Engr. Muhammad Sulaiman. 

As per details the interviews of candidates were held in two phases. In the first interviews of at least 10 shortlisted candidates were conducted by Secretary MoST Ali Raza Bhutta heading the selection committee on December 21, 2023 whereas second interview of four shortlisted candidates were conducted by the caretaker federal minister MOST Umar Saif on December 28, 2023.

Moreover, as per the summary, receiving approval from the Election Commission of Pakistan and duly considering feedback from the Establishment Division, the Ministry now seeks appointment of one of the three candidates.

Through the summary, the ministry has proposed name of Muhammad Khalid Siddiq as top contender among the final three.
