CM Naqvi seeks workable plan to increase meat export

LAHORE: A 21-member delegation of the Meat Exporters Association called on Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Sunday.

The delegation of the meat exporters association presented suggestions for increasing livestock production. On the occasion, CM Naqvi called for a workable plan from the delegation to increase the export of meat by five times. “Immediate action will be taken on the actionable suggestions of the Meat Exporters Association,” said the CM.

The caretaker CM directed immediate steps to create a Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) compartment for livestock production.

He ordered action against those who collect unnecessary taxes in the cattle market.
The CM assures the meat exporters that the government would provide all possible facilities to increase exports and in this regard the federation will also be contacted to increase the export of meat.

Naqvi said that farmers would prosper as meat production and exports increased.
The members of delegation told the Chief Minister that $500 million worth meat is being exported from Pakistan while $300 million worth of meat is being exported from Lahore only.

They briefed that meat has great potential in export and exports can be increased to $5 billion.

Provincial Livestock Minister Ibrahim Hasan Murad, Chief Secretary, Livestock Secretary, Meat Exporters Association President Mian Abdul Hanan, Secretary General Syed Hasan Raza and owners of meat production units were also present on the occasion.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi on Sunday inaugurated the new building of Hanjarwal police station here.

On the occasion, CM Naqvi inspected various sections of the police station.

Talking to media men, the Chief Minister said that 22 new police stations will be built in Lahore, saying soon the state of police culture will also be seen an improvement. He said that the upgradation of police stations is going on across Punjab.

The scope of the Safe City project will be extended to more cities and in this regard Punjab government has decided to expand the project in 16 cities, the CM said.

Punjab IG Dr Usman Anwar, CCPO Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamiana, DIG Operations Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, SSP Operations Syed Ali Raza, Chief Traffic Officer Mustansar Feroze and SP Iqbal Town Ahmad Zunir Cheema participated in the inauguration ceremony.

Caretaker Information Minister Aamir Mir and Sports adviser Wahab Rahaz were also present on the occasion.
