PESHAWAR: Despite the passage of three months in the fiscal year, majority of employees working on developmental projects in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) are still awaiting their salaries.
Provincial Administrative departments are blaming the Finance Department and Planning & Development for the delay. Due to the administrative crisis in KP, most employees working on developmental projects have been deprived of their salaries for a continuous three months. While the provincial government has released funds for all developmental projects, officials in administrative departments are dragging their feet when it comes to disbursing salaries, leaving employees without compensation for the months of July, August, and September.
The KP government had approved a four-month budget for expenditure. The decision was made to ensure that salaries for all employees working on developmental projects would be disbursed under this policy. Accordingly, funds for the salaries of employees working on developmental projects were issued, and these funds have been provided to administrative departments.
However, due to the uncertain situation in administrative offices, many projects employees are still awaiting their salaries for July, August, and September. Furthermore, several projects also have employees who have not received their salaries for May and June.
The provincial caretaker government has expressed concern over the delay in salary disbursements and has granted administrative secretaries the authority to disburse the funds. Despite this directive, the issue remains unresolved, leaving employees without their due salaries.
Throughout the province, numerous developmental projects have been initiated with employees who have not received their salaries. The delay in salary disbursements has created financial hardships for these workers, and they continue to await resolution to this pressing issue.
