Protesters block national highway in Narowal against power tariff hike

NAROWAL: People in Narowal blocked a national highway on Thursday by setting fire tyres as a protest against the per unit increase in power tariff.

The motorists had to face a great deal of inconvenience due to the traffic jams caused by the protest.

The protesters also raised slogans against the government and demanded that the increase in electricity prices be withdrawn.

They were carrying electricity bills in their hands.

“Sometimes, petrol becomes expensive and sometimes electricity. It has become difficult to feed bread to children,” they said.

“The government has made a move to crush the poor,” they added.
