ISLAMABAD: Security forces killed four militants in two intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on the night between June 3 and 4, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the military’s media wing said one operation was carried out in Dera Ismail Khan district after reported presence of militants. It said troops engaged the location and, after an intense exchange of fire, killed two militants belonging to what it described as India-sponsored Fitna al-Khawarij.
The ISPR said a separate intelligence-based operation was conducted in Mohmand district, where two more militants were killed in what it termed a skilful engagement.
According to the statement, weapons and ammunition were recovered from the dead militants, who it said had been involved in numerous terrorist activities in the area. The ISPR said the counter-terrorism campaign under Azm e Istehkam, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, would continue at full pace against what it described as foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism.
