Illegal Afghan immigrants arrested in Karachi

KARACHI: The police in Karachi on Tuesday arrested 26 immigrants from Afghanistan from a high-rise in Sohrab Goth town of the metropolis for illegally crossing the porous border into Pakistan.

The Sohrab Goth police station carried out an operation near the building to arrest the immigrants.

A police spokesperson said the raid was conducted was by a patrolling officer. Upon him asking for identity, the immigrants failed to show evidence of their citizenship and relevant travel documents, he added.

Meanwhile, the police claimed the incarcerated immigrants have confessed to crossing into Pakistan illegally. Cases have been registered against them under the Foreigners Act, 1946, and further investigation is underway.
