CM KP kicks off spring tree plantation drive

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan here on Thursday kicked off the spring tree plantation campaign by planting a sapling in the lawn of the Chief Minister’s House.

Under the drive, 100 million trees would be planted across the province and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Forest Department has distributed the stated quantity free-of-cost.

Speaking on this occasion, Mahmood Khan said that under the 10 Billion Tree Tsunami Project (10-BTTP) at the national level, additional one billion saplings were being planted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in which the relevant
institutions, private organisations and people from all segments of the society should play their vital role.

He said increasing the forest covered area and protection of trees have been priority of the PTI government from very first day of its rule in province.

The chief minister said that the provincial government had achieved the target of one billion tree project in the last five years which was recognised at international level.
