Sindh Assembly unanimously adopts resolution against blasphemous caricatures

KARACHI: The Sindh Assembly on Wednesday unanimously passed a resolution condemning the publication of blasphemous caricatures in France, while Jamaat-e-Islami has demanded the removal of Federal Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed.
In the Sindh Assembly session, a resolution was moved by Sindh Information Minister Nasir Hussain Shah against the blasphemous caricatures and in the honor of Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him), which was unanimously passed by the House.
Introducing the resolution, Shah said, “We will scarify our lives for the honor of the Holy Prophet (PBUH),” adding that this sensitive issue should have been resolved amicably.
JI member Syed Abdul Rashid demanded the removal of Interior Minister Rasheed and said that the agreements reached regarding the honor of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) should be implemented.
Mufti Qasim Fakhri of the banned Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) said that an agreement had been reached between the federal government and TLP in November last year. Due to the incompetence of the government, they were given time again and when people protested, they were shot, he added. “The ban on my party should be lifted by bringing those who fired on the protesters to justice,” he further said.
