Export-oriented industry to get uninterrupted gas: Dawood

ISLAMABAD: Adviser to Prime Minister on Commerce and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood has said that the export-oriented industry will be supplied uninterrupted gas this winter.

In a tweet on Monday, Abdul Razak Dawood said, “We are now heading into the winter and there may be gas shortages. The government has decided that for the export-oriented industry, there will be no outages of gas supply.”

Dawood asked industries to report any disruption in gas supply to the Ministry of Commerce so that it could be brought to the attention of the concerned body to take corrective action.

Earlier on November 21, Sindh Energy Minister Imtiaz Ahmed Shaikh had informed that the domestic gas crisis in the province had intensified with the advent of winter, blaming the federal government for “doing nothing about the situation”.

“Winter has barely arrived and domestic consumers are already experiencing gas shortage; the province is being compelled to buy expensive gas regardless of the fact that Sindh is the biggest producer of local gas,” he had maintained.
