People of this era think as if double standard is only for the women to be faced, which to some extent is correct but there are many men out there who are facing it too. Do we even consider it? No! We don’t.
A son-in-law helping daughter in house chores or speaking up for her would be titled as one in a million spouse. But if the son just makes tea for his sick wife would be labeled different. More or less we all do know the terms “Run Mureed” or even “Joru ka Gulam”. People on social media helping their partner outing in a shoe leave us in awe. Similarly a brown guy in a brown family doing same would end up putting a question mark of manliness on him. We are living in the time where a female is allowed to mourn, cry and talk about her pain and insecurities in fact a shoulder is offered to cry on but if a man even tries to open up, a reminder of his responsibilities and “are you a man if you can’t handle it” is slapped right on his face.
We all are humans trying to figure our path to peace. After all these suicide rates, shouldn’t we put an end to it now?
