Maryam Nawaz said Mandela's philosophy of non-violence, equality, reconciliation and respect for human rights had left a lasting legacy for the international community. She added that his lifelong struggle against racial discrimination, injustice and inequality had become an enduring chapter in world history and would continue to inspire people striving for peace, justice and social harmony.

The chief minister said the Punjab government, under the leadership of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), remained committed to building a society founded on equality, justice, tolerance and respect for human dignity. She said inclusive development, equal opportunities and the rule of law were indispensable pillars of sustainable progress and national cohesion.

Highlighting the significance of International Nelson Mandela Day, Maryam Nawaz said the annual observance encourages people to dedicate their time and efforts to serving humanity and promoting public welfare. She urged citizens, particularly the youth, to embrace the values of compassion, tolerance, volunteerism and public service to bring about positive and lasting social change.

Quoting Nelson Mandela's famous belief that education is "the most powerful tool to change the world," she said investment in education and human development remains the cornerstone of building prosperous, peaceful and progressive societies.

She added that as long as poverty, injustice and inequality continue to exist anywhere in the world, humanity's collective responsibility remains unfinished. Every individual, she said, has both the ability and the moral responsibility to contribute towards building a fairer, more compassionate and just world through positive action and an unwavering commitment to justice.
