KARACHI: Government hospitals in Karachi lack basic facilities to treat heat stroke patients despite directives from the health department.
According to details, a high alert was issued at different hospitals regarding special arrangements for heat stroke in the metropolis. In Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, 70 beds and medicines have been arranged but other basic facilities including air conditioners are still not present.
On the other hand, Orangi Town’s Qatar Hospital also doesn’t have ACs in the hospital.
Earlier in 2015, more than 1000 people were died due to scorching heatstroke in Karachi. Repeated power outages across the province exacerbated the situation.
