The Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) was severely criticised on social media over the alleged leaking of CSS examination question papers on Facebook by Sadia Kousar some 20 days before the exam date.
People took to social media and lashed out at the FPSC for appointing retired bureaucrats instead of academicians to prepare the papers. They said that if the leaked questions were real, they were a cause for shame for the FPSC and if it is not, then Sadia Kousar ought to be charged under the cybercrime act for defaming the FPSC on social media.
Ahtisham Jan Butt stated that this is what happens when retired bureaucrats are given priority over academicians. He said that he strongly condemned the unprofessionalism of the FPSC.
“I am 100 % sure that Sadia is linked with some retired bureaucrat from the foreign office, as both the papers of Pakistan studies and current affairs were leaked,” he added.
Another person commented that the leak showed the so-called transparency of the country’s most competitive exams.
Sadia issued questions of the English paper on January 26 and the assessment was held on February 16. She also mentioned two questions from the current affairs paper on January 31.
The legitimacy of the leaks was established after the recently held exams which featured the leaked questions word-for-word.
Rumours also circulated that the questions could be bought in secret groups for Rs 30,000 to Rs 80,000.
Students interested in getting the information were allegedly given a pin code after which they submitted the money along with their ID cards.
Others, however, defended the FPSC, and said the leaks were a deliberate attempt to “reduce the prestige of CSS exams, as FPSC is the most credible organisation.”
Another person speculated whether Sadia Kousar had edited her original post after the exams were conducted in an attempt at fooling others into thinking that future exam questions could reliably be found out from her for a fee.
Following the orders of the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) director general of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), an inquiry was launched into the leaked CSS exam questions on Saturday.
FPSC Chairman Naveed Akram Cheema said that he could not comment on the case prematurely, but denied all allegations that the exam papers were leaked.
