The parliamentary committee on appointment of judges could not approve names of six additional session judges of the Lahore High Court (LHC) due to absence of the members of the committee .

The matter would now be resolved by the prime minister.

The  committee meeting was held on Thursday, which was presided over by Chairman Ishaq Dar and Abdul Ghafoor Haideri was the lone attendee.

Talking to reporters, Dar said the six names for the appointment of additional session judges were those of Mrs Shoaib Saeed, Attar Mehmood, Shahid Adeel Hassan, Alia Neelam, Shahzada Muzahar and Abdulaziz Sheikh.

He said Haideri and he had agreed on these names, but could not approve them due to the absence of the other committee members.
