KARACHI: Sanwal Yaar Piya, Geo TV’s prime-time drama featuring Durefishan Saleem, Ahmed Ali Akbar and Feroze Khan, aired its final episode on Monday, drawing strong reactions from viewers across social media.
Written by Hashim Nadeem, directed by Danish Nawaz and produced by 7th Sky Entertainment, the drama revolved around a love triangle between Sanwal, Piya and Aliyar. Sanwal loved Piya, while she remained emotionally attached to her classmate Aliyar, a conflict that drove the central narrative of the series.
The final episode ended on a somber note for fans of Sanwal, as he chose not to marry Piya and instead reunited her with Aliyar. The conclusion disappointed a large segment of viewers, particularly fans of Ahmed Ali Akbar, who expressed frustration over Sanwal’s fate.
Many viewers said the character of Sanwal was unfairly treated, arguing that he was emotionally used by Piya throughout the drama. Fans pointed out that repeated hints suggested Sanwal and Piya would eventually end up together, a resolution they felt was never delivered.
Social media platforms were flooded with reactions, with some viewers calling the ending the weakest part of the drama. Several comments described Sanwal as a sincere lover who was left alone despite his sacrifices, while others questioned his decision to help Piya and her family despite her continued attachment to Aliyar.
The finale has triggered a wider debate among viewers over character development and narrative closure, with many saying the ending failed to provide emotional justice to Sanwal’s character.
