“There was never a disconnect between me and my daughter Anzela Abbasi, that was a big lie,” Shamoon Abbasi clarifies

In a candid conversation on Ahmed Ali Butt’s podcast Excuse Me, senior actor Shamoon Abbasi opened up about his relationship with his ex-wife, Javeria Abbasi, and their daughter, Anzela Abbasi. While addressing ongoing speculation, Abbasi emphasized that personal matters should remain private but felt compelled to clarify the misconceptions surrounding his relationship with his daughter.

Abbasi explained that, despite public claims, he was never absent from Anzela’s life. “I was never apart from my daughter; we were always nearby. I was living in Pakistan, not abroad,” he stated. He also responded to the idea that emotional distance had grown over time, noting, “There were no birthday wishes, no New Year wishes… especially from a kid who has a mobile all the time.”

However, Abbasi clarified that there was no animosity between them. “Me and Anzela were never on bad terms, but the distance became strange,” he added. Despite this, he strongly refuted claims of a complete disconnect, calling it “a big lie.”

The actor also addressed speculation about his absence from Anzela’s wedding, explaining that he had been recovering from surgery following an accident and had informed his daughter about his situation. “I had a conversation with my daughter and she was okay with it but it became a fuss on the internet,” he said.

Regarding his former wife and daughter’s current lives, Abbasi expressed his happiness for them. “They are both living a better life than me. They travel and are doing great, they can afford everything, so there is no argument left for me. Also, it makes me happy,” he said.

Nevertheless, Abbasi requested that his name not be publicly discussed, especially in relation to their personal lives. “My advice to them is to stop discussing me. It takes away from their professional achievements,” he added.

Abbasi also reiterated his discomfort with people using podcasts to delve into private matters. “I am against people discussing their lives deeply on podcasts,” he said. “I don’t want myself to be portrayed as a villain, so I have to respond.”

His remarks come in the wake of statements from his ex-wife, Javeria Abbasi, who has been outspoken about her life after divorce. In previous interviews, she expressed that she didn’t need pity for being a single mother, adding, “I can give my child a great life from whatever I earn. I don’t need a man.” Javeria also spoke about the unconventional family dynamic, explaining how she and Shamoon became step-siblings after her mother married his father, a situation that often led to confusion.

Shamoon and Javeria, who married young and later divorced, continue to co-parent their daughter, with both actors providing their individual perspectives on their shared history. Their comments underscore how personal matters within the entertainment industry often evolve into public conversations.
