DUBAI: Dubai’s Crown Prince, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has approved a series of ambitious policies designed to enhance the city’s beauty, livability, and health standards. Announced during the UAE Annual Government Meetings 2025, the initiatives cover a broad spectrum, from urban greenery and affordable education to early cancer detection and aviation employment.
The Executive Council of Dubai, led by Sheikh Hamdan, has given the go-ahead to several large-scale projects, including the Public Parks and Greenery Strategy, the Aviation Talent 33 initiative, policies to expand affordable schooling, the Sports Sector Strategic Plan 2033, a new Financial Restructuring and Insolvency Court, and the expansion of early disease detection healthcare services.
Dubai is set to implement over 800 new greenery projects, which will include the creation of 310 new parks and the upgrading of 322 existing ones. This initiative aims to triple the number of trees, develop 187 square kilometres of green areas, and use 100% recycled water for irrigation. By 2040, the city plans to increase annual park visits to 95 million and ensure that 80% of residents live within a five-minute walk of a park.
The Aviation Talent 33 initiative will strengthen Dubai’s position as a global aviation hub. This initiative will create more than 15,000 job opportunities, provide 4,000 training slots, and establish over 30 strategic partnerships. It also supports the vision of doubling Dubai’s economy and increasing the number of Emiratis in the private sector by adding 65,000 jobs.
To address the growing demand for affordable education, Dubai will add around 60 new schools by 2033, creating 120,000 new student seats. The policy includes incentives such as reduced government fees and lower land leasing costs to encourage private investment in education.
Dubai’s Sports Sector Strategic Plan 2033 aims to establish the emirate as the world’s leading sports hub. The plan includes 19 programmes and 75 initiatives across 17 sports, focusing on international events, talent development, and increasing public participation in sports.
A new court dedicated to financial restructuring and bankruptcy cases will be established to help companies manage debt and protect creditor rights. The initiative is part of a larger effort to position Dubai among the world’s top three financial centres.
Dubai will enhance its early detection healthcare services for Emiratis, with the goal of reducing chronic diseases and improving life expectancy. The program includes a 40% increase in colon cancer screenings, a 50% rise in vaccination services, and aims for over 90% patient satisfaction, with reduced appointment waiting times of seven days or less.
These new initiatives reflect Dubai’s ongoing efforts to create a thriving, sustainable, and world-class city with increased job opportunities, a focus on health, and a commitment to improving the quality of life for its residents.
