Pakistan’s spinner Abrar Ahmed tied the knot in Karachi on Saturday, marking the beginning of a new chapter in his life. The 27-year-old cricketer’s Valima reception is scheduled to take place in the city on Monday.
Media reports said Abrar’s nikah had already been solemnised earlier, and his bride was brought home during the ceremony. A video circulating online showed the cricketer celebrating with friends to the beat of drums outside a marriage banquet.
His wedding festivities began on Friday with a mehndi ceremony, where he was seen wearing a green shalwar kameez. Images and videos from the event quickly gained traction on social media.
Abrar, who made his international debut in 2022, has represented Pakistan in 10 Tests, 11 ODIs, and 23 T20Is, claiming 93 wickets across formats. He was part of the national side that reached the final of the ACC Men’s T20 Asia Cup 2025, losing to India by five wickets.
The spinner is also included in Pakistan’s squad for the upcoming two-match home Test series against South Africa starting October 12 in Lahore. He is expected to rejoin the national training camp after his Valima reception, which runs until October 8.
