A Virginia orchard has officially claimed the Guinness World Record for the heaviest peach, after harvesting a fruit weighing an incredible 1.83 pounds. The Chiles Peach Orchard in Crozet announced the achievement following the harvest of the massive fruit earlier this month. The previous record stood at 1.8 pounds.
Grower Henry Chiles shared that the orchard had not intentionally aimed to produce the largest peach, but the weather conditions this year resulted in the growth of an unusually large fruit. “It just so happened that the weather this year turned out good, and we ended up growing a ginormous peach,” Chiles told WVIR-TV.
The peach, known as PF-27A, was submitted to Guinness World Records, and the organization has now confirmed it as the world’s heaviest peach. In a statement shared on social media, the orchard celebrated the achievement, thanking Henry Chiles for his efforts and expressing gratitude to Guinness for verifying the record.
The record-breaking peach has generated excitement in the local community, highlighting the successful cultivation of the fruit due to favorable growing conditions.
In another Guinness World Record feat, Austrian stuntman Josef Tödtling set a new record by pulling a car 100 meters while engulfed in flames. On June 24 in Vienna, Tödtling dragged the car a distance of 328 feet in 56.42 seconds, becoming the first person to hold the title for the fastest car pull during a full-body burn.
Footage from the daring stunt shows Tödtling covered in flames while a team member ran alongside him with a fire extinguisher, ready to intervene if needed. By the end of the attempt, three fire extinguishers were used to put out the flames. This isn’t Tödtling’s first record, as he holds multiple Guinness records involving full-body burns, including the longest duration without oxygen and the fastest 200-meter cycle during a full-body burn.
