Pakistan women’s team leaves for ICC Women’s World Cup 2025

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan women’s cricket team departed for Sri Lanka on Tuesday to compete in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025. Led by Fatima Sana, the team will first play two warm-up matches against Sri Lanka and South Africa to finalize their preparations for the tournament.

Their World Cup campaign will begin on October 2 with a match against Bangladesh, followed by group-stage fixtures against India, Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa, and Sri Lanka.

In preparation for the tournament, Pakistan recently hosted South Africa in a home ODI series. The visitors won the series 2-1, with Pakistan securing a consolation victory in the final match.

During the series, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi visited the team and urged the players to approach the World Cup with confidence and a fearless mindset, emphasizing that success comes from teamwork.

In the final ODI against South Africa, Pakistan triumphed by six wickets. Nashra Sundhu took a career-best 6 wickets, helping Pakistan bowl out South Africa for just 115 runs. Sidra Amin contributed with an unbeaten half-century, leading Pakistan to chase down the target in 31 overs.

The squad for the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 includes: Fatima Sana (c), Muneeba Ali Siddiqui (vc), Aliya Riaz, Diana Baig, Eyman Fatima, Nashra Sundhu, Natalia Parvaiz, Omaima Sohail, Rameen Shamim, Sadaf Shamas, Sadia Iqbal, Shawaal Zulfiqar, Sidra Amin, Sidra Nawaz (wicket-keeper), and Syeda Aroob Shah.
