GAZA: Hamas on Sunday described Israel’s actions across Gaza as “systematic ethnic cleansing in which killing, starvation and thirst are used as tools of genocide”, Al Jazeera reports.
In a statement, Hamas said the deaths of more than 70 children from malnutrition were a “stain on humanity” and the silence from the international community was an “additional crime”.
“Thousands of tonnes of aid are stuck behind the Rafah crossing as Gazans die of hunger, thirst, and disease. We hold the occupation and the US administration fully responsible for the massacres at aid points and the systematic killing mechanism in Gaza,” the group said.
Hamas called for an urgent investigation into the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, at whose sites more than 900 people have been killed while seeking life-saving aid.
More than 100 people killed in Israeli attacks across Gaza since dawn
Israeli forces have killed at least 104 people in attacks across the Gaza Strip since dawn, medical sources tell Al Jazeera.
Among the casualties are 78 aid seekers who were killed and more than 200 who were injured.
Gaza’s civil defence agency has said that Israeli forces opened fire on a crowd of Palestinians waiting to collect humanitarian aid, providing a preliminary toll of at least 44 people killed.
“As of this moment, 44 people have been killed and dozens injured after Israeli forces opened fire on civilians waiting for aid” near Gaza City in the territory’s north, civil defence spokesman Mahmud Bassal told AFP.
There was no immediate comment from the Israeli military.
One in three people in Gaza going days without food: WFP
Nearly one in every three people in Gaza is going days without anything to eat, the World Food Programme has warned, with thousands on the brink of catastrophic levels of hunger, Al Jazeera reports.
The agency said food aid is the only way many can access meals and reiterated its call for an immediate and lasting ceasefire, along with safe and unhindered humanitarian access to those in need.
Dozens of Palestinians, mostly children, have lost their lives due to hunger and malnutrition in recent days, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry.
All but 6 of 435 voting members of US parliament oppose amendment to reduce Israeli military funding: report
All but six of the 435 voting members of the US House of Representatives opposed Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene’s amendment to reduce $500 million in funding for Israel’s missile defence systems, Drop Site News reports.
Greene argued the US already gives Israel $3.8 billion annually and shouldn’t be funding the weapons of a belligerent, nuclear-armed state.
The five members who voted to support cutting the funding alongside Rep Greene, were Thomas Massie, Al Green, Summer Lee, Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib.
