Air India Dreamliner Makes Emergency Return to Hong Kong After Technical Issue Mid-Air

An Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, operating flight AI315 from Hong Kong to New Delhi, returned to its point of origin on Monday after experiencing a technical issue shortly after take-off. This latest incident follows a recent crash involving a similar Boeing aircraft.

The plane, which had taken off at 12:20 PM local time, reached an altitude of 22,000 feet before descending and returning to Hong Kong International Airport around 1:15 PM. Air India confirmed that the plane landed safely as a precautionary measure and is currently undergoing technical checks.

The flight crew made an urgent request for standby assistance, leading to the safe return of AI315, which had only been airborne for about an hour. The incident did not disrupt operations at the airport, according to a spokesperson from the Airport Authority Hong Kong.

This technical issue adds to the challenges faced by Air India, which has been grappling with issues involving its fleet. Just days before, another Boeing 787-8 operated by Air India crashed in Ahmedabad, India, killing 241 of the 242 people aboard. The airline and Boeing are under increasing pressure to ensure safety and restore public confidence after several safety concerns.

Air India and Boeing did not immediately provide comment on the latest incident involving flight AI315.
