Princess Charlotte’s Emotional Reaction to Prince William’s Beard, Royal Family Faces ‘Hardest Year’ in 2024

Prince William revealed that his daughter, Princess Charlotte, was in tears when he first grew a beard, as she didn’t like the new look. “Charlotte didn’t like it the first time. I got floods of tears, so I had to shave it off,” the Prince of Wales shared on Thursday, according to People.

The emotional response occurred earlier this year, though William, 42, remains hopeful he can win her over eventually. “Then, I grew it back… I convinced her it was going to be OK,” he said. William publicly debuted the beard in August, alongside his wife, Kate Middleton, in a video celebrating Team Great Britain’s performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

In September, he appeared with facial hair for the first time since Middleton, 42, completed her cancer treatment, showing support during her return to public engagements. He proudly displayed his beard again in October when he joined Middleton in Southport, England, for her post-treatment outing.

Reflecting on the year, William described 2024 as the “hardest year” of his life, balancing family challenges and public responsibilities. “Trying to get through everything else and keep everything on track has been really difficult,” he admitted.
